Back in the USA!
After completing the longest commercial flight I can tick that one off and say i’ll never do it again, 15 hours on a plane is more plenty to breath in stale air and old farts.
We landed and tried to look to get train into city to our hotel. We were advised by the information booth that the DART (Dallas trains) are a bit sketchy. I took that as not efficient or running on time – we later found out what they really meant.
We got to the hotel had a shower to de-stink ourselves. In order to make sure we stayed awake we ventured out into town. It seems nobody around her knows about trains. We asked the hotel who gave vague directions to a station near bay. We walked 5 min down road and met our first “interesting” local. We found a target and went in to get a sim so we could navigate via phone. One of the staff knew where the station was, straight across road under tall building. We made our way over and soon found what looked to be a post apocalyptic station, it was deserted completely! We then met a few more “interesting” locals who proceeded to ask us for money. After a quick train ride through what looked to be ghetto ville and meeting a few more locals who seemed to need more of our change we found our way to the JFK assassination location. Next we went off for a steak and a beer. After dinner we decided that the train wasn’t what we wanted to catch at night so we tried to walk up the main street, where we found all the bars and nightlife. We will explore more tomorrow.
TLDR: Tried to make our way in town, took wrong turn, ended up in ghettoville, lots of people asking for change, found our way to nice part .. ate, drank sleep.
PS. I spent a fair amount of time drooling over new beers i have never seen before:
